A Quick trip to Disney | ||||
As I always do, in August I kept track of the airfare costs to travel to Florida. Guess what - I found an airfare - 105.00 round trip to Orlando per person with timeframes that would work for us. Since we had already bought Annual passes in May and owned the timeshare it would make for a very cheap weekend-type vacation. So I bought the tickets, we made reservations at the Wilderness Lodge Villas - one of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, and headed off to Paradise once again.

Here's the view from our room. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. This is a condo extension of the Wilderness Lodge. I really expected the Wilderness Lodge Villas to just be an outbuilding of the Wilderness Lodge, just a long hallway with rooms off of it. Wrong!!! It's a beautiful resort in it's own right with an atrium and a sitting room. The train room smells just like my Grandma Cavness' house used to smell - deep leather. The atmosphere and ambience is exactly right to what they are trying to accomplish.
From our room you could watch people riding Surrey bikes. You rent these and ride them around the grounds. You can rent them at all the Disney Vacation Club resorts.
The Wilderness Lodge is on a very large lake. To get to The Magic Kingdom you take this boat. It's a seriuos boat - much larger than the boats that take you across Crescent Lake at the Boardwalk. |

Here's another view of the Mermaid, docked and ready to take passengers to the Magic Kingdom. |
